Eureka Springs has been referred to as America’s Victorian Village. In the late 1870’s it was determined that the springs in our valley contained special healing properties. Eureka Springs was a thriving health spa and tourist destination well into the 20th century. During the Depression, town fell into disrepair, many homes were preserved simply due to the lack of funds for changes.. By the 1970’s artists had discovered the forgotten paradise. They began to fix up the old homes. With the added attraction of the Passion Play, Eureka slowly returned to the polished gem of years past. Eureka Springs is now a thriving art community . Eureka now includes an upscale shopping district , many relaxing Bed and Breakfests. and elegant dining. We are surrounded my 2 lakes 2 rivers and the Ozark wilderness. Rudie works with black & white infrared film that gives his photos a surreal glow. He is also recreating the old Hollywood style in such detail that he has invested in the same equipment used in the 30s and 40s. The results are breathtaking. Mike Gelvin a turned wood bowl artist who is a rancher in his real life. Mike uses techniques that confound other wood workers, his choice of color and pattern are unexpected and truly beautiful.. the results must be seen and felt to be believed. Larry Mansker, a renown, abstract, portrait and mural painter. We primarily carry his abstract work, a rich multi media blend of exquisite colors and textures. His abstracts have a thoroughly modern feel but would be at home in most décor environments. Larry’s experience and skill allow him to create truly original pieces with a technical proficiency that is second to none. Ryan Wilson a metal artist who works with airplane parts. Imagine the magnesium wheel of a 727, powder coated any color. Then imagine a thick piece of beveled glass on top, The glass would be cut out in the middle to let the Boeing name come through. That is what Ryan imagined and made a reality. He has also imagined lamps, bookends, and penholders made from aluminum pistons, desks of airplane parts etc. He continues to make his imaginings reality, we can’t wait to see what he brings us each visit. Ryan’s outstanding craftsmanship and wonderful artistic decisions keep things interesting. Sherry Young, a painter and pointillist known to be one of the most talented up and comers in the region. Sherry was our first artist and we believe her decision to work with us gave Eclectic Edge the legitimacy it needed to draw such a talented group of artists. Sherry works in a style that has been described as sophisticated primitive. Her use of color is exciting and invigorating. Her subject matter often includes nudes in an ever changing and always interesting setting. Sherry’s work in pointillism, done dot by dot with a fine tipped pen is a study in patience. Her use of hidden symbolism makes her pieces surprising long after the first look. John McBryde rides and repairs American motorcycles, sculpts, draws, carves and writes. He is a true renaissance man in an Ozark setting, equal parts mechanic and artist. John sculpts by welding found objects into wonderful works of art.His work is intricate and technically perfect. His love of American motorcycles and beautiful women inform his design choices. We are fortunate to carry John McBryde’s sculpture work.
